Aera

Support

We're here when something isn't running right.

Aera is made by Tech With Nikola Ltd for iPhone and Apple Watch. Most answers are below; for anything else, email us and we will reply as soon as we can.

Aera is being prepared for the App Store. If you are testing through TestFlight, everything below applies to your build too.

Contact us

Email nikola@techwithnikola.com. Tell us your app version, your iPhone or Watch model, what happened and what you expected. Do not send passwords, payment-card details or your Apple Account credentials; we never need them.

Getting started

Choose your goal (5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon or general fitness), your current ability and your weekly preferences. Importing running history from Apple Health is optional: you can enter a recent result or choose a starting point instead. Finish onboarding, then choose a membership to open your plan.

Aera does not have accounts, so there is nothing to sign in to and no password to reset. An Apple Watch is optional: the iPhone app guides every run on its own with step-by-step targets, spoken cues and GPS.

Your training plan

Why aren't workouts on a calendar?

Each week has a pool of sessions. Run them in any order that suits you. Today recommends one; Choose another shows the alternatives and I only have… adjusts the session to the time you have.

Changing your preferences

Open More → Training preferences to change your runs per week or long-run preference. Use More → Start a new plan to set your fitness and goal again; completed runs, Apple Health runs and time away are kept.

Time away, illness and breaks

Add holidays and other time away from More → Time away, choose lighter training, easy running or a break, and preview the changes before saving. If you are unwell, injured or taking a break, update your status from Today; recommendations pause while it is active and there are no catch-up runs afterwards.

Apple Health and location

Apple Health is optional. Manage Aera's access in the Health app under your profile, Apps and Services → Aera. Location access enables outdoor run recording and route display; manage it in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services. Changing either permission can affect recording or imported history.

If your history looks empty, check Health permissions and whether running workouts exist in Health. Apple keeps read permissions private, so an empty history can mean either no matching runs or no access. More → Apple Health → Connect or refresh Apple Health requests access again and reloads your runs.

Apple Watch

Set up your plan on iPhone. Open a workout and tap Send to Apple Watch while your Watch is paired and connected, then wait for the workout to show as ready before leaving your phone behind. The Watch runs the downloaded session on its own and sends the completed run back to your iPhone when the two reconnect.

If the Watch app is missing, install it from the Watch app on your iPhone. If a workout does not arrive, check that both devices are unlocked and nearby, then send it again.

Membership and billing

Aera offers monthly and annual auto-renewable subscriptions. The membership screen shows your local price and whether a free trial is available before you subscribe. Apple processes payments; Aera never sees your card details.

Restoring a purchase

Tap Restore on the membership screen, or open More → Membership → Restore purchases. Use the Apple Account that originally purchased the subscription.

Managing or cancelling

Open More → Membership → Manage subscription, or on your iPhone open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions → Aera. Deleting Aera does not cancel a subscription. For billing and refund requests, use Apple's purchase support.

Membership options do not load

Check your internet connection and tap Reload membership options. If the problem continues, contact us with the message shown on screen.

Privacy and erasing data

Your plan, runs and routes stay on your devices. In More → About & privacy you can turn optional analytics on or off. More → Erase all Aera data removes your plan, fitness, run history and settings from that iPhone. It does not cancel your subscription or remove workouts already saved to Apple Health; manage those in your Apple Account settings and the Health app.

Read the privacy policy and the terms of use. The app is licensed under Apple's standard End User Licence Agreement.

Reporting a problem

Open More → Help & feedback → Report a bug. Describe what happened, what you expected and the steps that reproduce it. The report is prepared on your device and you choose whether and where to share it. Screenshots and additional diagnostics are optional; leave out anything you would rather not share, such as health or location details.

Training guidance

Aera provides general running guidance, not medical advice or a diagnosis. Stop a workout if you have pain or feel unwell, and seek appropriate advice before returning from injury or if you have a condition that affects exercise.
